It’s a crucial moment for our planet, and while our team comes from a diverse background, we have all arrived at Great Yellow for the same reason—to meet the challenge of the climate & biodiversity crisis we are facing at a global scale.
Our shared belief is that nature restoration can have the transformative power to tackle climate and biodiversity breakdown.
Just as importantly, we are united in our optimism. Restoration at scale can be done. It can be done now. It can help us mitigate, adapt and find joy along the difficult way to a stable planet.
Our part to play is to bridge the vast resources of the corporate sector to nature restoration projects, on a magnificent scale. Our hope and ambition is to leave a lasting impact that will resonate for generations to come.
We're named after the Great Yellow bumblebee: the largest and one of the most endangered species of UK bumblebee. Once found across the UK, they are now limited to the very North of Scotland - pushed north by climate change and habitat degradation. There is a view that, if average temperatures rise by more than the 1.5 degree C limit set by the Paris Accord, the Great Yellow will be forced out of the UK entirely, so it is an exemplar of the human impact on both nature and the wider environment.
